Ferrari Secures Engine Deal with Cadillac for 2026 F1 Season

Ferrari has agreed to supply engines to Cadillac’s new Formula 1 team if F1 approves its entry for the 2026 season. Cadillac part of General Motors has reached an agreement in principle with F1 to join the championship in 2026. While Cadillac plans to eventually build its own engine, it will rely on Ferrari for customer engines and gearboxes until its power unit is ready which it expects will take until 2028. This agreement ensures that Ferrari will maintain two customer teams in 2026 even after Sauber transitions to the Audi factory team.

Ferrari currently supplies engines to Haas and the addition of Cadillac will continue that partnership. Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur expressed his excitement about the collaboration, noting the significance of having another American team enter F1 especially as the sport’s popularity grows in the United States. He emphasized the value of working with a respected brand like Cadillac and praised the technical collaboration with Ferrari supplying power units and gearboxes.

Vasseur also highlighted the benefits of having two customer teams, noting that it fosters technical development within Ferrari. He expects the agreement with Cadillac to enhance Ferrari’s capabilities and strengthen their position in F1. While F1 has yet to officially ratify Cadillac’s entry, officials consider it a formality. If F1 approves the entry, the partnership will mark a new chapter for both Cadillac and Ferrari in the growing U.S. motorsport market with Cadillac joining the grid as a new player in Formula 1 by 2026.
