Jack Doohan will replace Esteban Ocon at Alpine for the final Grand Prix of the season in Abu Dhabi, marking his early debut with the team. The Australian already confirmed to race alongside Pierre Gasly in 2025, will step in for Ocon, who will join Haas for the post-season test at the same venue on December 10. This move allows Ocon, whose contract with Alpine runs until the end of the year to begin working with his new team early.

This also benefits Jack Doohan, the son of five-time MotoGP champion Mick Doohan as he gains valuable experience ahead of his first full season in F1. Doohan will race at his home Grand Prix in Melbourne in 2025, scheduled for March 14-16. The change comes amid strained relations between Ocon and Alpine.

The team had already decided not to extend Ocon’s contract after a clash with team-mate Pierre Gasly during the Monaco Grand Prix. Alpine acknowledged Ocon’s contribution including securing its first Formula 1 victory in 2021 at the Hungarian Grand Prix and additional podiums in Monaco (2023) and Brazil (2024). The team wished Ocon the best for the future.

Doohan’s early participation in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will allow him to familiarize himself with the team and the racing environment, helping him prepare for his full-time seat next year. Ocon will use the chance to experience Haas’ team and car before diving into winter preparations for 2025.
