Lewis Hamilton expressed his excitement as he begins his new chapter with Ferrari in 2025, sharing his enthusiasm in a LinkedIn post. The seven-time F1 champion, whose contract with Ferrari officially started on January 1, said he was “embracing new opportunities” and ready to “drive forward with purpose.” Hamilton, who is preparing to turn 40 on January 7, emphasized the importance of embracing change and reinvention, encouraging others to take on new challenges, whether in their career or personal life.
The British driver shared a nostalgic photo from his karting days, wearing a red helmet, Ferrari’s signature color. He joins Ferrari as team-mate to Charles Leclerc, forming what many consider the strongest driver pairing on the grid. Ferrari finished the 2024 season strongly, narrowly missing out on the constructors’ title and outscoring all rivals from the Dutch Grand Prix onwards.
Hamilton has a short time to adapt to his new team before the 2025 season opener in Melbourne in March. Ferrari has not disclosed detailed plans for his first few months, but Hamilton will visit the factory, use the simulator and drive a 2023 car to familiarize himself with the team’s operations. Ferrari will launch its 2025 car on February 19 and the official pre-season testing will take place in Bahrain from February 26-28 with Hamilton and Leclerc sharing testing duties.
Ferrari’s team principal, Frederic Vasseur described Lewis Hamilton’s initial six weeks with the team as critical, noting the challenge of integrating him while maintaining continuity with previous regulations. Vasseur expects a highly competitive 2025 season with Ferrari, McLaren, Red Bull and Mercedes all vying for the championship.
