Max Verstappen Seals Fourth World Championship in 2024

Max Verstappen secured his fourth consecutive Formula 1 world title after a challenging 2024 season marked by strong competition and personal growth. His fifth-place finish in the Las Vegas Grand Prix ensured his points total was beyond the reach of McLaren’s Lando Norris, who needed a podium finish to keep his title hopes alive but finished sixth. Mercedes’ George Russell claimed a dominant victory ahead of his teammate Lewis Hamilton.

Despite early dominance, with Verstappen winning four of the first five races, McLaren emerged as a formidable rival starting in Miami, forcing Verstappen to focus on consistency throughout the season. By the second half of the year, Norris closed the gap as McLaren gained an edge over Red Bull. However, Verstappen’s remarkable victory from 17th on the grid in Brazil secured the title which he clinched in Las Vegas.

Verstappen acknowledged the difficulty of the season, stating, “It was a very challenging season… I am very proud of us as a team.” He also emphasized the importance of staying calm and working together through tough races. Verstappen and Red Bull maximized their results, often overperforming while rivals faltered in crucial moments. His rivals including Norris praised his consistency and ability to extract the maximum from his car.

Looking ahead, Max Verstappen expressed excitement for the 2025 season, anticipating a more competitive battle among multiple teams. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner praised Verstappen’s outstanding performance, emphasizing that the 27-year-old is in the form of his life. He added that with continued strong cars, Verstappen will remain a dominant champion.
