Max Verstappen Wins 4th F1 Title Despite Earnings Drop

Max Verstappen secured his fourth Formula 1 World Championship in 2024 after a challenging season clinched with consistency and a decisive victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix. The Dutchman outpaced McLaren’s rising star Lando Norris, who pushed the championship battle to the final races but fell short after finishing P6 at the Las Vegas Grand Prix while Verstappen’s P5 finish sealed the title. Despite this triumph, 2024 has been one of Verstappen’s toughest seasons due to Red Bull’s declining dominance and McLaren’s improving performance.

However, Verstappen’s on-track success comes with a financial setback. Reports from Marca suggest that the Red Bull driver’s earnings in 2024 will be significantly lower compared to his record-breaking 2023 season. Last year, Verstappen achieved 19 wins in 22 races earning approximately €81 million (£67 million) including €1.5 million per victory and bonuses for podium finishes. In contrast, his 2024 season saw him secure just eight victories reducing his bonus earnings to €12 million.

For the 2024 season, Verstappen’s estimated salary stands at €67 million (£56 million) marking a notable decline from the previous year. Despite this reduction, Verstappen remains the highest-paid driver on the Formula 1 grid. The 2024 season has highlighted Verstappen’s resilience, showcasing his ability to navigate a more competitive environment. While McLaren’s steady rise has positioned them as a stronger contender for 2025, Verstappen’s focus and adaptability allowed him to overcome Red Bull’s struggles and clinch another championship title.

Though financial earnings dipped, Max Verstappen’s performance reinforces his standing as one of F1’s most formidable drivers while fans and competitors eagerly anticipate how he and Red Bull will tackle the increasingly competitive field in the coming season.
