Mercedes Refutes “Shootout” Claims in Kimi Antonelli Tests

Mercedes has dismissed claims that Kimi Antonelli’s recent and upcoming tests are part of a “shootout” process for Lewis Hamilton’s 2025 successor. The 17-year-old Toto Wolff protege, Andrea ‘Kimi’ Antonelli, showcased his skills alongside Mick Schumacher and George Russell in a 2022 model, reportedly impressing the Mercedes’s board with his speed.

Mercedes’ Response

Mercedes has firmly rejected claims that the recent test involving Andrea Kimi Antonelli and two other drivers amounted to a shootout to decide its future line-up. The team clarified that the recent tests were incorrectly labeled as a shootout and that this was neither the intention nor the findings of the running.

Testing Schedule and Performance

Mercedes confirmed that Andrea Kimi Antonelli, along with Mick Schumacher, will have more test runs in the 2022 Mercedes at Barcelona. The team expressed satisfaction with both drivers’ performance and eagerly anticipated the upcoming test runs.
