Oliver Bearman Sets Sights on F1 Glory and Ferrari

Oliver Bearman has set his sights on becoming a Formula 1 world champion and driving for Ferrari. The 19-year-old Briton, who will drive for Haas at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku has stepped in for Kevin Magnussen, who is sidelined due to a penalty. Bearman joined Haas on a multi-year contract in July and has ambitious goals for his F1 career. Bearman expressed his dream of winning an F1 world championship, acknowledging that he has plenty of time to achieve it.

“I hope to one day be fighting for a world championship. I’m young, and I want to enjoy these early days, learning as much as I can,” he told BBC Sport. Earlier this year, Bearman became the youngest Briton to start an F1 race at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.  He secured a seventh-place finish for Ferrari after stepping in for Carlos Sainz, who had to miss the race due to appendicitis.

This performance played a key role in securing his Haas seat for 2025. Although he currently drives for Haas, Oliver Bearman holds Ferrari in high regard, given his connection to their driver academy and his admiration for Lewis Hamilton, who will join Ferrari in 2025. Bearman hopes to one day drive for Ferrari himself, reflecting on his connection with the team and its significance to his career.

Bearman also discussed the personal sacrifices he and his family have made for his racing career. He recalled how his parents delayed home improvements to buy him his first go-kart, a gesture he cherishes. Having moved to Modena, Italy, at 16 to join Ferrari’s academy, Bearman admitted the transition was tough but necessary for his career.  He recognizes that more sacrifices will come including missing out on personal milestones but remains dedicated to his racing ambitions.
