Oliver Bearman will replace Kevin Magnussen for the entire Sao Paulo Grand Prix weekend after Magnussen had to withdraw due to illness. The 19-year-old Briton initially received a call-up to participate only in Friday’s sessions and the sprint race on Saturday but the team later announced that Bearman would continue in Magnussen’s car for the remainder of the event.
Bearman qualified in 10th position for the sprint race, scheduled for 14:00 UK time on Saturday finishing two spots ahead of regular driver Nico Hulkenberg. This weekend marks Bearman’s second competitive outing for Haas in just five races. He previously filled in for Magnussen at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix when the Danish driver faced a ban for accumulating too many penalty points on his license.
Looking ahead, Oliver Bearman will join Haas as a full-time driver next season, alongside Frenchman Esteban Ocon, who will transfer from Alpine. This weekend’s race in Brazil serves as an important opportunity for Bearman to gain further experience and showcase his talent in a competitive environment.
As the team adjusts to this unexpected change, they will closely monitor Bearman’s performance, particularly given the high stakes of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. With this race being a key event in the season, Bearman’s ability to adapt and deliver results could influence both his career and Haas’s future in Formula 1.
