Ralf Schumacher Urges Carlos Sainz to Reconsider Williams Move
Ralf Schumacher is advising Carlos Sainz to reconsider joining his former Formula 1 team, Williams. Recent reports indicate that Sainz, set to leave Ferrari at the end of the season, is nearing a deal with Williams possibly for just one year to keep his options open for future moves to either Red Bull or Mercedes. Despite securing all six of his Formula 1 victories with Williams, Ralf Schumacher is not optimistic about this move for Sainz. “I strongly advise him against it,” the former German racer stated to formel1.de. “I would opt for a team that fully supports me,” he continued. “Currently, Williams is at a standstill. So far, they’ve really let me down.”
Schumacher believes Sainz would have better prospects at Audi in the long run due to his father’s connections to the company. Mercedes reportedly informed the 29-year-old Spanish driver that they will not offer him a contract extension for 2025. Schumacher noted that Sainz was likely never a top priority, as “they could have already approached him to sign a contract.” In contrast, Sergio Perez is expected to remain with Red Bull until 2025. “We can’t overlook that as long as Max Verstappen is there, Red Bull’s budget is relatively tight – and Perez brings in funds,” Schumacher observed.
