Jorge Martin Out as Ducati Prioritizes Marc Marquez

Jorge Martin will be forced to leave Ducati as the manufacturer has decided to bet on Marc Marquez at all costs for its factory MotoGP team. Initially, Ducati informed Jorge Martin between the Barcelona and Mugello races that they had chosen him to be Francesco Bagnaia’s teammate in the factory Ducati team for 2025. Before the Italian Grand Prix, a senior factory executive confirmed this decision, thanking Martin for his patience. Ducati believed they could persuade Marc Marquez to join Pramac, offering him the same materials and support as the official team riders.

However, on Thursday, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Marquez dismissed this idea, stating with a serious demeanor, “Pramac is not an option for me.” This unexpected reaction caught Ducati off guard, prompting them to seek alternatives. Marquez made it clear that he would only join the official Ducati team or another factory. Fearing the loss of such a high-profile rider, Ducati decided to meet his demands and make him Bagnaia’s teammate for 2025. Following Marquez’s firm stance, Martin attempted to reconnect with Ducati officials but waited until this week for a response.

Realizing Ducati would not offer him a contract for the official team, Martin is now considering various offers from KTM, Aprilia, Honda and even Pramac, which is likely to partner with Yamaha and separate from Ducati. Ducati will also have no place for Enea Bastianini. The Italian rider, who finished second at the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday, decided not to wait any longer and is negotiating with KTM, Aprilia and Yamaha for a potential ride with Pramac.
