In 2025, the Australian Grand Prix will reclaim its traditional status as the season opener scheduled for 14-16 March in Melbourne. Since its debut in 1996, Melbourne has typically hosted the first race except for 2019 when Bahrain took over due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This shift is due to the timing of Ramadan causing delays in the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian races.
Following Melbourne, the F1 calendar includes races in China and Japan before heading to the Middle East. Melbourne is contracted to host the opening race four times until 2032. The 2025 calendar mirrors this year’s record-breaking season with 24 races albeit with a different opening sequence. The British Grand Prix at Silverstone is scheduled for 4-6 July and the season will conclude in Abu Dhabi on 5-7 December.
F1 chairman Stefano Domenicali expressed enthusiasm for the 75th anniversary celebrations of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship in 2025 highlighting the global appeal of the sport.
