Warwickshire has appointed wicketkeeper Alex Davies as the new captain succeeding Will Rhodes, who stepped down in November after four years. Davies joined Warwickshire from Lancashire in 2022, signed a contract extension until 2026. The 29-year-old expressed pride and honor in taking on the role, having gained experience leading the side in last season’s T20 Blast campaign. Davies considers his move to Warwickshire the “best decision,” is committed to putting everything into his captaincy. The club’s performance director, Gavin Larsen praised Davies’s attributes and confirmed a review of the T20 captaincy once Moeen Ali’s commitments are finalized. Davies aims to continue Warwickshire’s success in red-ball and white-ball cricket aspiring to create a legacy of sustained success.
