Alex de Minaur savored a historic victory over Rafael Nadal at the Barcelona Open possibly the legend final appearance on his home court. De Minaur’s 7-5 6-1 win showcased his speed and skill making him the first Australian to defeat Nadal on clay in 13 attempts. Despite Nadal formidable reputation on clay, De Minaur capitalized on his opponent rustiness and executed well-placed drop shots to secure the win.

While Nadal showed flashes of his former brilliance, his unforced errors ultimately cost him the match. De Minaur aggressive playstyle and physicality proved effective earning him a well-deserved victory and a spot in the last 16. Meanwhile, Jordan Thompson also advanced to the next round setting up a clash with Casper Ruud.
