Andrey Rublev clinched his first Madrid Open title after a tough battle against Felix Auger-Aliassime overcoming illness and a slow start to win 4-6 7-5 7-5. Despite struggling with a fever leading up to the final, Rublev displayed remarkable resilience crediting the medical team for enabling him to compete.

He described the victory as the proudest moment of his career considering the challenges he faced in the preceding days. Rublev triumph comes after a difficult period of losses providing a significant confidence boost ahead of the French Open.

Auger-Aliassime fought valiantly but fell short in the decisive moments of the match succumbing to a double fault on match point.
