Andy Murray Faces Extended Absence Due to Miami Open Ankle Injury

Andy Murray has announced that he will be sidelined for an extended period after sustaining an ankle injury during his match at the Miami Open. The 36 years old Briton suffered a full rupture of his anterior talofibular ligament and near full-thickness rupture of his calcaneofibular ligament. Murray, a three times major winner who underwent hip resurfacing surgery in 2019 will consult with a specialist to determine the next steps.

Despite this setback, Murray remains determined to return to the court. He had previously expressed intentions of not playing much past the summer but hopes to compete at another Olympic Games before retiring. Murray aims to make one final appearance at the French Open and hopes to qualify for Wimbledon and the Olympics later in the year.
