Former Manchester United player Angel Gomes has provided insights into his departure from the club. Gomes now 23 left Old Trafford for Lille in August 2020 after limited first team opportunities. Having spent years in the Red Devils Academy, Gomes expressed the emotional difficulty of leaving the only home he had known. He cited the desire for more playing time and a clear future plan as reasons for joining Lille.
Gomes who has become a key part of Lille emphasized his contentment with the decision. Despite a successful season with Lille he hasn’t ruled out a return to Old Trafford stating it would be a dream. Gomes, initially a winger or creative midfielder showcased versatility by excelling as a holding midfielder.
He also recalled a challenging moment with Jose Mourinho in 2017. The player has played 30 times this season contributing goals and assists in various competitions.
