Rory McIlroy surged into contention at the Arnold Palmer Invitational showcasing remarkable achievements on the back nine. Despite starting the day 2-over, McIlroy impressive 365-yard drive on the 10th hole marked a historic feat becoming the first player in the ShotLink era to reach the green from the tee.

With six birdies on the back nine, McIlroy 6-under 30 tied the Bay Hill back-nine scoring record. His overall round of 68 positioned him four shots behind leaders Scottie Scheffler and Shane Lowry. McIlroy emphasized the significance of strong nine-hole stretches on challenging courses like Bay Hill.
