Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall criticized Chelsea counterpart Emma Hayes for labeling their touchline altercation as “male aggression” during the Women’s League Cup final, which Arsenal won 1-0. Eidevall disputed Hayes’ characterization, citing a disagreement over the match ball system as the cause of tension between the teams.

He was booked for a confrontation with Chelsea midfielder Erin Cuthbert which Hayes believed warranted a dismissal. Despite initial handshakes, Hayes pushed Eidevall away at full-time. Eidevall dismissed the incident, asserting his conduct was appropriate and questioned Hayes’ portrayal of events.

Earlier, Eidevall faced accusations of “bullying” from Manchester City boss Gareth Taylor which he refuted. Former player Anita Asante noted Eidevall’s intensity and desire to win but deemed the altercation as part of both managers’ competitive nature.
