Arsenal’s £80 Million Move for Ivan Toney Takes Stride Forward After Thiago Signing

Arsenal pursuit of Brentford striker Ivan Toney seems to be progressing as the Bees secure the signing of Brazilian forward Igor Thiago. The Gunners in the midst of a Premier League title race view Toney as a crucial addition potentially costing around £80 million.

Despite the hefty investment, Arsenal lacks a consistent 20 goals striker. Brentford on the verge of a substantial financial boost has already utilized funds by acquiring Thiago from Club Brugge for £30 million. The 22 years old will remain at Club Brugge for the rest of the season before joining Brentford in July.

Thiago with 16 goals in 24 league games signed a five-year contract with an option for an additional year. Brentford manager Thomas Frank anticipates Toney’s departure in the summer but expresses confidence in Thiago’s abilities to fill the void.

Toney remains a target for other clubs including Manchester United, Tottenham and Newcastle. Brentford faces league leaders Liverpool in their upcoming match.
