Azeem Fahmi a bronze medallist at the Asian Games achieved a season best of 10.31 seconds in the 100m race at the Tiger Track Classic in Alabama. Although this fell short of his national record and the Paris Olympics qualifying mark, it marked improvement from his previous races this year. Competing for Auburn University, Azeem finished third in his heat which was the only one completed due to heavy rain canceling the later heats.
His coach noted a gradual improvement in Azeem performance attributing his progress to overcoming challenges like fasting during Ramadan. Meanwhile, Asian Games bronze medallist Shereen Samson Vallabouy finished 16th overall in the 100m event at the Pure Athletics Spring Invitational in Florida clocking 11.87 seconds in the heats.
