Aston Martin has chosen not to contest the penalty given to Fernando Alonso following the Australian Grand Prix where his “potentially dangerous” driving resulted in a 20 seconds penalty, dropping him from sixth to eighth place. Alonso braked unusually early into turn six, causing a collision with Mercedes driver George Russell.

Aston Martin boss Mike Krack stated that while they support Alonso, they must accept the decision despite their disappointment. Alonso admitted to stewards that he made a mistake but later expressed surprise at the penalty. Krack defended Alonso intentions, emphasizing that the Spaniard would never endanger others on the track.
