Aston Villa secured a spot in the semi-finals of the Women League Cup after defeating Brighton in a penalty shootout. Brighton initially took the lead with a goal from Veatriki Sarri but Villa equalized through Kirsty Hanson’s header. Despite both teams having chances to win in normal time the match ended level.
In the shootout, Villa emerged victorious with a 2-0 score as goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar saved three penalties. Villa now awaits the draw to determine their semi-final opponent which includes potential matchups against Chelsea, Manchester City or the winner of Arsenal versus London City Lionesses.
