Christoph Baumgartner made history by scoring the fastest-ever goal in international football, finding the net after just six seconds as Austria defeated Slovakia in Bratislava. The 24 years old midfielder skillfully bypassed three defenders before slotting the ball past the goalkeeper. Baumgartner’s goal surpassed Lukas Podolski’s previous record set for Germany in 2013.

Austria sealed their victory with Andreas Weimann’s late goal, marking their fourth consecutive win as they prepare for the Euro. While Baumgartner’s feat was remarkable, it narrowly missed being matched by Florian Wirtz’s goal for Germany against France later that evening. Despite various fast goals recorded in different football competitions, Guinness World Records doesn’t recognize records outside of professional football.
