His performance marked a clean sweep of the two days testing in Qatar and an improvement on the pole record from the previous year. Enea Bastianini also from Ducati secured the second spot. Aprilia riders led by Aleix Espargaro performed well with Marc Marquez making progress on his Ducati.
The top 10 was mostly occupied by Italian bikes emphasizing their strong showing. Yamaha faced challenges and Honda’s testing was impacted by illness affecting Joan Mir and Luca Marini. The MotoGP season is set to commence in early March at Lusail.
