Bayern ensure United’s early European exit

Manchester United’s 2023/24 European campaign has come to an official close after yet another home defeat, this time against the German champions, Bayern Munich. United needed at least a win to maintain hope of advancing to the knockout stage or securing third place, which would qualify them for the Europa League playoffs.

Despite showing significant improvement from their last game, an embarrassing 0-3 defeat to AFC Bournemouth, Bayern proved to be a class above United, displaying better control and making it difficult for United to put up a fight.

The difference-maker came in the second half, with a goal from French star winger Kingsley Coman, resulting in a final score of 1-0 in favor of the visitors. When combined with FC Copenhagen’s 1-0 win over Galatasaray in the other Group A game, United succumbed to a fourth-place finish — a highly disappointing outcome for their fans worldwide.

United’s run of form faces another stern test as they prepare to face Liverpool FC in a Premier League trip to Anfield this Sunday.
