Manager Thomas Tuchel is set to depart Bayern Munich at the end of the season a year earlier than initially planned. Tuchel took over from Julian Nagelsmann in March 2023 leading Bayern to last season’s Bundesliga title. However, recent setbacks including an 8 points gap to league leaders Bayer Leverkusen and defeats in the Champions League and Bundesliga have prompted a mutual agreement for Tuchel’s early departure as part of a “sporting realignment” at the club.

Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen expressed the need for a new coach for the 2024-25 season. Tuchel who managed Chelsea, Paris St-Germain and Borussia Dortmund affirmed his commitment to achieving maximum success with the team until the end of the season. Despite a challenging period including the signing of England captain Harry Kane, Bayern aims to make strides in the Champions League and Bundesliga before Tuchel’s departure.
