Bayern Munich has reportedly initiated talks with Xabi Alonso for him to become their new manager in the upcoming summer potentially thwarting Liverpool pursuit of him. The 42 years old coach highly sought after following a successful season with Bayer Leverkusen seems inclined towards Bayern over Liverpool as he deems following Jurgen Klopp legacy at Anfield too risky.

Leverkusen under Alonso guidance is on track to end Bayern’s 11 years Bundesliga reign. While Liverpool views Alonso as a potential successor to Klopp, the managerial shift may cost Bayern between £13 million and £21 million due to a contractual clause. Alonso contract with Leverkusen extends until 2026. Klopp has praised Alonso coaching abilities acknowledging his remarkable work at Leverkusen.
