Marouane Fellaini the former Everton and Manchester United midfielder has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 36. The Belgian international who earned 87 caps for his country and participated in two World Cups concluded his international career in 2019.
Fellaini began his Premier League journey with Everton in 2008 after transferring from Standard Liege before moving to Manchester United in 2013. He later joined the Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng in 2019.
Fellaini expressed gratitude for his career in a social media post highlighting his pride in representing his clubs and his country at various prestigious tournaments. During his time in the Premier League, Fellaini made 141 appearances for Everton scoring 25 goals and providing 14 assists.
At Manchester United, he scored 22 goals in 177 appearances across all competitions and contributed to the team’s victories in the 2016 FA Cup as well as the Europa League and EFL Cup in 2017.
