Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has disclosed that a Tottenham player played a significant role in the club securing the signing of Swedish talent Lucas Bergvall ahead of Barcelona on deadline day. The 18 years old midfielder is set to undergo a medical with Spurs and is poised to sign a five year contract. Tottenham new technical director Johan Lange led the recruitment efforts facing tough competition for Bergvall signature.
The deal reportedly valued at around £8.5 million has been agreed upon with Djurgardens. Despite interest from Barcelona, Tottenham managed to sway Bergvall to join them with winger Dejan Kulusevski playing a part in convincing him to opt for the Premier League. Bergvall is highly regarded and is expected to bolster Tottenham squad upon joining them in the summer after completing the current season with Djurgardens.
While Tottenham deadline day initially seemed uneventful, Bergvall signing could prove to be a shrewd move if he realizes his potential. Tottenham next fixture is against Everton where a win could see them close the gap on the Premier League leaders.
