Arsenal secured the third Champions League spot in the Women’s Super League with a comfortable home victory against Leicester in front of a crowd of 42,820 at Emirates Stadium. Goals from Beth Mead (twice) and Alessia Russo propelled Arsenal to a 3-0 win.
Mead opened the scoring with a precise finish followed by Russo powerful strike and another goal from Mead. Despite Leicester efforts, Arsenal dominated the second half securing their eighth win in nine games. The return of Frida Maanum who played for the first time since her collapse during a previous match, received a warm reception.
Despite their loss, Leicester remain safe in the league although they have room for improvement to compete with the top teams.
