Real Madrid’s hope of extending their lead at the top of La Liga was dashed as they could only manage a 1-1 draw in a thrilling match against Real Betis yesterday.
Despite the draw, their position remains relatively unaffected, with Los Blancos still perched at the summit of the La Liga table with 39 points. Second-placed Girona will only face fellow Catalonians FC Barcelona on Sunday.
Jude Bellingham once again showcased his prowess by scoring a magnificent goal for Real in the first half, giving them a lead heading into halftime. As Real sought a second goal, Real Betis’ Aitor Ruibal had other plans, slotting home the equalizer to level the playing field.
Despite the visitors’ best efforts to find a winner, resolute defending by Betis saw them escape with a draw against the league leaders.
Real’s manager, Ancelotti, deemed the result ‘fair,’ acknowledging that his side controlled a significant portion of the match while also crediting Betis for their performance.
Up next for Real is a trip to Union Berlin in the sixth matchday of the Champions League this Wednesday.
