Billy Vunipola, the England and Saracens number eight has received a formal warning from the Rugby Football Union (RFU) following his arrest in Majorca last month. The RFU has cautioned Vunipola about the potential to bring the game into disrepute due to his actions. The warning will remain on Vunipola disciplinary record for five years. The incident occurred in Palma where Vunipola was fined 240 euros (£205) after being Tasered by Spanish police and charged with “resisting the law.”

Saracens conducted their own internal investigation and issued Vunipola with a warning as well. Vunipola has apologized for the incident describing it as an “unfortunate misunderstanding.” Despite the incident, he has continued to play for Saracens and may feature in their upcoming Premiership game against Bristol. Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall has stated that they consider the case closed and are focusing on rugby moving forward.
