Birmingham City Manager Tony Mowbray Takes Medical Leave, Mark Venus to Step In Temporarily
Birmingham City boss Tony Mowbray has taken a temporary leave from his managerial role as he undergoes medical treatment for an undisclosed illness. Following a recent health assessment, Mowbray was advised to seek treatment leading to his decision to step away from on-site management for approximately six to eight weeks.
Mowbray who assumed the role in January will continue to work remotely with his assistant manager Mark Venus who will assume interim responsibilities. Mowbray expressed gratitude for the club’s support and emphasized his commitment to providing guidance during his treatment. Birmingham City has seen improvement under Mowbray’s leadership securing 10 points from 18 and moving to 15th in the table.
The club’s CEO Garry Cook wished Mowbray a swift recovery and assured that temporary replacements would receive the necessary support to maintain the positive momentum.
