Blackburn Rovers’ attempt to secure a loan move for Duncan McGuire from Orlando City has hit a roadblock as the EFL did not approve the transfer due to an administrative error. The necessary paperwork for the 23 years old move was not processed in time and the club is now awaiting a decision from the EFL Board on February 8th.
Orlando City has allowed McGuire to remain in the UK until the decision is made. If the appeal is unsuccessful, Blackburn will seek a pre-contract agreement with Orlando City for a permanent transfer in the 2024 summer window.
The club acknowledges the mistake and will not comment further until the matter is resolved. McGuire is currently ineligible to play in upcoming matches including the FA Cup Fifth Round clash against Newcastle United.
