Chelsea has reportedly made an offer to Brighton’s head of recruitment Sam Jewell just 16 months after hiring his predecessor Paul Winstanley. The Blues want Jewell to take on a global scouting role for both Chelsea and Strasbourg in Ligue 1. This move is prompted by concerns that Dan Ashworth currently at Newcastle may take Jewell to Manchester United as part of his expected appointment as sporting director.
Chelsea aims to swiftly secure Jewell amid potential competition. The 34 years old is yet to make a final decision and is open to staying at Brighton. Winstanley was among several staff members who followed Graham Potter from Brighton to Chelsea in 2022 but most were dismissed in April 2023.
Jewell initially joined Brighton in 2016 and took on various roles before becoming the head of recruitment 14 months ago.
