Bordeaux Striker Alberth Elis in Induced Coma After Head Injury

Bordeaux striker Alberth Elis is in an induced coma following a serious head injury in a collision during a French Ligue 2 match against Guingamp. The incident occurred just 40 seconds into the game when Elis collided with defender Donatien Gomis.

Bordeaux confirmed Elis underwent surgery, and the club refrained from commenting on his prognosis. The match was paused for eight minutes and Gomis continued to play. Elis with 64 caps for Honduras moved to Bordeaux in 2021 after playing for Boavista in Portugal and Houston Dynamo in Major League Soccer (MLS).
