Bruno Fernandes has voiced his belief that football rules regarding goal celebrations need reconsideration after Amad Diallo was controversially sent off for removing his shirt in celebration after scoring Manchester United winning goal against Liverpool. Amad who came on as a late substitute received a second yellow card for the incident leaving United with 10 men for the final seconds of the match.
Fernandes expressed sympathy for Amad suggesting that players should be allowed to celebrate goals with more freedom while showing respect to opponents. Despite the disappointment of the red card, Amad expressed joy at the victory and thanked fans for their support. The match-winning goal marked only Amad second for United since joining in 2021 and he admitted to forgetting he was already booked when he removed his shirt.
Despite limited opportunities, Fernandes believes Amad dedication and performance will earn him more chances in the future.
