Bus crash kills two members of Algerian football team, all games postponed
A bus carrying the players and staff of Mouloudia El Bayadh overturned in the town of Sougueur, Algeria, killing the goalkeeper and the assistant coach.
The Algerian Football Federation announced that all football activities across the country would be postponed in the wake of the tragedy.
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune expressed his sorrow and sympathy for the loss of the two members of the football team.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night when the team was travelling to Tizi Ouzou to face JSK Kabylie in a league game on Friday. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined.
Mouloudia El Bayadh is a Ligue 1 side in Algeria. The team was founded in 1946 and has won the Algerian Cup once in 1999. The team’s home ground is the Stade 24 Fevrier 1956.
