Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers faced criticism from women’s groups after making a ‘good girl’ comment to BBC Scotland reporter Jane Lewis during a post-match interview. For Women Scotland accused Rodgers of casual sexism and called for an apology. Lewis a seasoned broadcaster had asked Rodgers to clarify his cryptic comments about the title race leading to his condescending remark.

The Scottish Feminist Network expressed disappointment in the persistence of casual sexism in sports and demanded an apology. Former Hibs player Tam McManus and broadcaster Jeff Stelling also found Rodgers’ comments embarrassing. Despite the backlash, Celtic chose not to comment. Lewis who has covered major sporting events received support on social media while some Celtic fans accused her of bias.

In a previous incident in 2021, Lewis defended herself against similar accusations from Celtic supporters.
