Charlton Athletic has sacked head coach Michael Appleton following a 12 game winless streak across all competitions. The decision came after Charlton lost 3-2 to Northampton Town leaving them just four points above the League One relegation zone. Appleton had only been in the role for four and a half months taking over from Dean Holden in September. During his tenure, Charlton won eight and lost nine out of 28 games but hadn’t won since November 28th. Curtis Fleming has been appointed interim head coach with former captain Jason Pearce as his assistant. First-team coach Richard O’Donnell has also departed from the club. Charlton is now looking for their sixth different boss in less than three years amidst a turbulent period.
