Olympic gold medal aspirations for the Paris Olympics are gradually coming together for the fourth-ranked duo, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik.

World No. 4 Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik are shaping up their Olympic gold medal aspirations for the Paris Olympics. Currently ranked No. 2 in the Race to Paris standings, it’s unlikely for them to fall out of the top 16 or be surpassed before the cutoff in April. After securing a bronze medal in their Olympic debut at the 2021 Tokyo Games, the duo continued their success by winning the World Championships in 2022.

In the previous year, Aaron and Wooi Yik claimed their first World Tour title at the Denmark Open and were runners-up at the India Open, Indonesia Open, and China Open. Recently, they reached the semi-finals of the India Open by defeating China’s Ou Xuan Yi-Liu Yu Chen with a score of 21-19, 21-19. They are set to face India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty for a spot in the final.

Reflecting on their Olympic journey, Wooi Yik expressed the special significance of playing in the Olympics and highlighted their growth as a pair since their Tokyo Games debut. He is optimistic about their improvement and believes they will perform better in Paris. Aaron is confident about making a significant impact in Paris, expressing excitement rather than nervousness for their second Olympic appearance. He emphasized the need for thorough preparation as the competition for Olympic medals is intense.
