Chelsea Condemns Abuse Directed at Conor Gallagher Over Mascot Video

Chelsea has addressed a video clip featuring Conor Gallagher with a young black mascot stating that it has been “taken considerably out of context.” The club condemned the “completely unacceptable” abuse directed towards Gallagher following the circulation of the clip which showed him not acknowledging a high five from the child before a match against Burnley.

Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino expressed his disappointment and defended Gallagher emphasizing that the player’s intention was not to ignore the mascot. Pochettino called for an end to such abusive behavior and urged people to stop creating unnecessary controversy. Gallagher received abusive comments on social media including accusations of racism.

Chelsea reiterated their commitment to being a diverse and inclusive club, condemning the abuse directed towards Gallagher.
