A Chelsea legend has criticized Cristiano Ronaldo for claiming that the Saudi Pro League is superior to Ligue 1. Ronaldo who joined Al-Nassr in January 2023 argued that the Saudi league is more competitive than the French league. Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf expressed his displeasure with Ronaldo comments suggesting that they were influenced by his rivalry with Lionel Messi at Paris Saint-Germain.
Leboeuf also questioned Ronaldo move to Saudi Arabia insinuating that financial motives played a significant role. Additionally, Leboeuf remarked that Portugal could win the Euros this summer if Ronaldo doesn’t play. Despite acknowledging Ronaldo contributions to football, he emphasized that every career has its end.
PSG has dominated Ligue 1 in recent years while Al-Hilal leads the Saudi Pro League. Ronaldo since joining Al-Nassr has scored 42 goals in 48 appearances.
