Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku Sidelined for Weeks: Pochettino Frustrated with Setback

Christopher Nkunku is facing a three to four weeks absence due to a recent injury sustained in Chelsea’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool. Despite being a second half substitute, he couldn’t help Chelsea secure victory. Nkunku who joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig last summer has been plagued by injuries including a knee surgery during pre-season and a subsequent hip injury.

Mauricio Pochettino confirmed the setback ahead of Chelsea’s FA Cup fifth rounds match against Leeds. Pochettino expressed frustration, highlighting that Nkunku hasn’t been the same player since returning from injury. Chelsea already without a consistent goalscorer will miss Nkunku’s contribution during his absence as they solely rely on Nicolas Jackson in the striking role.

The club didn’t make any signings in the January transfer window and temporarily parted ways with Armando Broja who moved to Fulham for the remainder of the season.
