Cheltenham Festival: Cross Country Chase Canceled Due to Waterlogged Track

The Cross Country Chase at the Cheltenham Festival has been canceled due to waterlogged parts of the track with no plans for rescheduling. Willie Mullins aims for his 100th Cheltenham Festival win with El Fabiolo in the Queen Mother Champion Chase.

Nicky Henderson withdraws several horses due to poor performances including Jonbon and Shishkin. Going conditions are described as soft, heavy in places on the Old Course. Despite rain forecasts, six races will still occur on Wednesday. The day, formerly known as Ladies’ Day is now called ‘Style Wednesday’.

Unfortunately, two horses died on Tuesday’s races prompting condolences from Cheltenham officials. The revised Wednesday schedule includes the Gallagher Novices’ Hurdle, Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase, Coral Cup Hurdle, Queen Mother Champion Chase, Grand Annual Handicap Chase and Weatherbys Champion Bumper.
