Controversial Call: Scotland Denied Match-Winning Try, Townsend Criticizes Officials

Scotland’s head coach, Gregor Townsend expressed visible frustration after his team was denied a potential match-winning try against France.

Despite celebrating what seemed like a valid try officials deliberated for several minutes and ultimately decided that the ball had not been grounded on the try-line.

The controversial decision led to France securing a 20-16 win. Townsend criticized the decision stating that the referee and TMO had initially indicated a try but later changed their minds leaving him puzzled.

While expressing deep disappointment for his players, Townsend underscored the necessity for enhancements in the officiating of the sport to guarantee fair outcomes.
