Aston Villa striker Rachel Daly protested with officials following Stina Blackstenius’s contentious goal for Arsenal in their WSL clash. Despite the controversy, Arsenal secured a 3-1 victory at Villa Park staying close to league leaders Chelsea and Manchester City. Villa felt aggrieved as Blackstenius scored from an offside position after handling the ball following a slip. Daly engaged in dialogue with the officials after the match, arguing her team’s case.

However, Villa escaped conceding a penalty when Alessia Russo was fouled in the 70th minute. The weekend saw multiple incorrect calls in the WSL with West Ham and Manchester United also affected. Manchester United’s Marc Skinner expressed frustration over a goal conceded to Manchester City and suggested the need for VAR in the league. Despite an early lead from Ebony Salmon, Villa ultimately succumbed to Arsenal, who secured victory through goals from Victoria Pelova and Lotte Wubben-Moy, alongside Blackstenius’s controversial effort.
