Cricket's Nasir Hossain Suspended: Two-Year Ban for Anti-Corruption Code Offenses

Bangladesh all-rounder Nasir Hossain received a two-year ban from all cricket, with six months of the suspension being suspended. The ban was imposed after he admitted to three charges of violating the Emirates Cricket Board’s Anti-Corruption Code, as filed by the ICC in September 2023. The charges include failing to disclose the receipt of a gift (an iPhone 12) with a value over US$750 and not providing full details of an approach to engage in corrupt conduct via the new iPhone. 

Additionally, Hossain breached the Code by refusing to cooperate with the Anti-Corruption Official’s investigation. The 32-year-old admitted to the charges and agreed to the sanction. If he satisfies the conditions for the suspended part of the sanction, he can resume international cricket on April 7, 2025. Notably, Hossain was previously charged for alleged corruption in the 2020-21 edition of Abu Dhabi T10. He has represented Bangladesh in 19 Tests, 65 ODIs, and 31 T20s, with his last international appearance in 2018.
