Darren Gough Departs Yorkshire County Cricket Club Leadership Position

Darren Gough the former England fast bowler has resigned from his position as managing director of cricket at Yorkshire County Cricket Club. Gough who played for Yorkshire for 15 years took on the role in December 2021 after Martyn Moxon stepped down. During his tenure, Gough navigated the club through the aftermath of the Azeem Rafiq racism scandal overseeing significant changes in personnel.

He focused on rebuilding the club and restoring trust in its management. Gough played a key role in appointing Ottis Gibson as head coach and overseeing the development of both the men’s and women’s cricket teams. His efforts were praised by the club’s chief executive, Stephen Vaughan who acknowledged Gough’s contribution to stabilizing the club and driving progress in its playing squads.

Gough expressed pride in the achievements made during his tenure particularly in rebuilding the men’s squad and advancing the women’s game. Yorkshire County Cricket Club now looks ahead to the 2024 Championship season  aiming to compete strongly under new leadership.
