In December, Tottenham attempted to renegotiate a payment related to Dele Alli’s transfer to Everton but were unsuccessful. Tottenham proposed a reduction in the payment to £8 million if the agreed number of appearances was lowered. Alli who joined Everton in January 2022 has faced challenges with injuries and has not played for the Toffees since August of the same year.
The initial deal for Alli’s transfer included performance related add ons and was valued at up to £40 million. The 27 years midfielder spent the previous season on loan at Besiktas making 15 appearances and scoring three goals. Dele Alli has faced numerous injury challenges during his tenure at Goodison Park leading to uncertainties about his return.
Everton manager Sean Dyche has hinted that Alli might not feature for the club in the current season following his recent injury setback. Alli who made 269 appearances for Tottenham between 2015 and 2022 has faced personal challenges including discussing his struggles with addiction.
